A Choice of Weapons: Inspired by Gordon Parks is directed by the award-winning producer, director and writer John Maggio. The film explores the power of images in advancing racial, economic, and social equality as seen through the lens of Gordon Parks, one of America’s most trailblazing artists, and the generation of young photographers, filmmakers, and activists he inspired.

Following the screening, join director John Maggio for a Q&A discussing the making of the film.

John Maggio is a principal producer, director and writer with Ark Media. He has directed  The Perfect Weapon (2020); Panic: The Untold Story of the 2008 Financial Crisis (2018), winner of the 2019 Emmy for “Outstanding Business & Economic Documentary;” and The Newspaperman: The Life and Times of Ben Bradlee (2017), nominated for the 2018 Producers Guild Award for best documentary feature.


His work also includes films for FRONTLINE (College Inc., Growing up Online) and American Experience (Bonnie and Clyde, The Boy in the Bubble, Kinsey).  Maggio’s films have been honored with the National Emmy Award and Writers Guild Award, and multiple News and Documentary Emmy Award Nominations.
