Jesszilla is an inspiring and emotional documentary that tells the story of a young Latina girl from New Jersey pursuing her dream of becoming a boxer. The film highlights her determination and the unbreakable bond she shares with her father, who stands by her every step of the way.
Emily Sheskin is a director and editor whose award-winning work spans documentaries, TV specials, and advertising campaigns. Her projects have been featured in The New York Times, National Geographic, The Atlantic, and more. Sheskin holds a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and is a member of New York Women in Film & Television and IFP.
This screening is part of the Bronx Documentary Center’s 10th Annual Women’s Film Series, celebrating women filmmakers and their powerful stories from October 18-20, 2024.
