Directed by Michèle Stephenson and Joe Brewster, the film is a tribute to roots, community, and cultural evolution.

Michèle Stephenson (@michele_0608) is a filmmaker, artist, and author whose work draws on her Haitian and Panamanian heritage. She creates immersive storytelling experiences to explore radical and hybrid narratives. Her feature documentary American Promise was nominated for three Emmys and won the Jury Prize at Sundance.

Her documentary Stateless was nominated for a Canadian Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary. Most recently, her film Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Documentary Competition.
