Book Talk: Dora, Yerkwood, Walker County, Alabama by Fumi Nagasaka
Thursday, February 1 · 6:30 PM
Bronx Documentary Center
614 Courtlandt Ave, Bronx, NY 10451
Join photographer Fumi Nagasaka at the Bronx Documentary Center for a presentation of her new book, Dora, Yerkwood, Walker County, Alabama.
During the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, Nagasaka, a Japanese photographer, became fascinated by the rural and southern United States. Though she had lived in New York City for over a decade, she had never ventured into the American South. That changed when her friend, Tanya Rouse, invited her to Dora, Alabama. Over several years, Nagasaka visited Dora repeatedly, capturing a unique visual archive of life in the small town. These photographs are now featured in her new book.
