Juanita Escobar, a self-taught Colombian photographer, is renowned for her long-term documentary projects. She won the Colombian National Photography Prize in 2009 for People – Land and the National Geographic Society’s Portfolio Review Prize in 2016 for her 9-year-long project Llano.

Escobar has been selected for prestigious programs, including the 2015 World Press Masterclass Latin America and the 2017 World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass. Her work on Orinoco earned her the Magnum Foundation Fund in 2018.
