Join us for a special screening of Last One Standing, a documentary celebrating the life and legacy of Adela, the beloved founder of Casa Adela in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Adela migrated to New York City in 1973, where she and her family established the iconic restaurant in 1976. Known for her radiant smile, culinary expertise, and acts of generosity, Adela was a cornerstone of the Loisaida community, hosting annual jam sessions to celebrate neighborhood life.
Released in 2018, Last One Standing was created by Gary Cruz and William Rosario of Yagrumo Productions to honor Adela’s enduring impact on her community and the love she infused into every dish she served.
