Join us for a special screening of You Are Not a Soldier, directed by Maria Carolina Telles. The film offers an intimate portrait of award-winning war photographer André Liohn, weaving together his frontlines work in notorious warzones with his journey to process his father’s death and reconcile his dual roles as a conflict photographer and a father.
Following the screening, André Liohn will host a Q&A session to discuss the evolution of conflict photography over the last decade, the challenges facing photographers in today’s fractured media landscape, and the importance of documenting conflicts and unrest in an increasingly uncertain world.
André Liohn is an accomplished conflict photographer, documentary producer, and director. His work has been featured in publications such as Der Spiegel Magazine, The New York Times, Newsweek, The Guardian, El País, Time, and Stern, and broadcast on BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera English, France 24, and more. In 2012, he received the prestigious Robert Capa Gold Medal for his images from the besieged city of Misrata during the Libyan civil war.
