Join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Bronx Documentary Center’s Youth Photography program, also known as the BDC Youth Photo League. Over the past decade, this program has provided more than 400 middle and high school students from the South Bronx with free documentary photography and multimedia classes, along with year-round college success support.
Armed with immense talent and growing skills, BDC students have crafted intimate portraits of their borough, telling community stories with accuracy and creativity. Through Our Eyes: Youth Photography at the Bronx Documentary Center, 2013–2023 showcases a decade of their award-winning photography and celebrates the publication of a book by the same name.
BDC students have achieved remarkable success, earning honors, exhibiting at prestigious venues like Photoville, the Bronx Botanical Garden, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Polka Gallery in Paris. Their work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Polka Magazine (France), and featured on platforms such as ABC News, BBC, Univision, and Pix11. Many of our high school seniors, most of whom are first-generation college students, have gained admission to prestigious schools with full scholarships.
