Through intimate vérité, archival footage, and visually innovative treatments of her poetry, Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project pushes the boundaries of biographical documentary film by traveling through time and space to reveal the enduring influence of one of America’s greatest living artists and social commentators. Directed by Michèle Stephenson and Joe Brewster.
A Q&A with the film's Associate Producer, Karem Orrego, and Producer, Amilca Palmer, will take place following the screening.
This event is held in conjunction with the BDC's 9th Annual Women's Film Series which runs from October 13-15, 2023, learn more here. The Film Series was curated by Beth Dembitzer and Tânia Cypriano.
